With over thirty year experience in Structural Engineering, Aphrodite is the Founder and President of a1a Design Group Corporation, a WBE Certified company, where she is using her eighteen year experience as a Structural Peer Reviewer to conduct reviews of projects to be permitted in the City of Chicago.
She conducts structural peer reviews for owners, developers, or architects, who would submit the structural peer review report along with the application for permit to the City’s Department of Building’s in order to receive the building’s permit.
She also conducts structural engineering reviews through the Direct Developer Services and Developer Services processes of the City of Chicago Department of Buildings, as part of a team of reviewers, where her past experience as a DOB structural reviewer has been indispensable.
The company’s goal is to work closely with the professionals of each project in order to complete a thorough structural engineering review, which would meet the client’s scheduled timeframe.
Aphrodite’s expertise includes reviews of buildings of various types, size and use, of different construction materials; whether it is new construction or alterations to existing. Among them:
- High rise buildings between 11 to 70 stories Residential or Office buildings.
- Midrise buildings up to 10 stories Residential or Office buildings.

Through her vast experience at a number of private companies as a structural engineer and project structural engineer, managing all phases of design and construction for new buildings and additions to existing structures; subsequently as a City structural reviewer and lastly as a private sector structural peer reviewer, she is capable of issuing constructive comments to the structural engineer of record, making the structural peer review process a worthy one.
